Weekly Consortium Events
Starting Fall 2024: Consortium Meetings are held on Fridays from 9:00am-11:50 am in JFSB B062.

Weekly Lecture Series
Covers the basics of sleep psychology and sleep science. Required reading may be assigned prior to each lecture.
Overseen by the Teaching Committee.
Weekly Research Training
Hands-on laboratory training on PSG wire up and scoring, administrative tasks, MRI training, DLMO training, and data management skills.
Overseen by the Laboratory Committee
Weekly Lab Meeting
Centers on professional development, progress in research, and current study collaborations.
Overseen by the Professional Committee.
Undergraduate Training Program
I. Level 1 Trainee
a) Student applications to join the sleep training program (add drop deadline for Fall and Winter terms). Specifically, PSYCH 492R Section 26. Students can also join sponsored through Gardner funds.
b) Weekly training meetings will cover didactic training in sleep science, laboratory training in sleep science, professional development, and progress in research.
c) Join a sleep research society (I.e., SRS, AASM, WSC).
d) Identify potential mentor/sponsor/mentorship team.
e) Participate in data collection, management, and analysis projects.
f) collaborate on abstracts, posters, and papers.
g) Attend Writing Retreat (if space allows)
II. Level 2 Trainee
a) Take Capstone PSYCH 430R (Requires previously taking PSYCH492R or NEURO449R or equivalent).
b) Attend weekly training meetings as described above.
c) Submit sleep consortium data request (no later than Sep 15th).
d) Conduct student directed, mentor guided archival research.
e) Submit abstract to SLEEP (December 15th).
f) Present research at Progress in Research.
g) Apply for Sleep Research Internship outside of BYU (e.g., Sleep for Science http://www.sleepforscience.org/academic/apprenticeship.php).
h) Poster presentation at SLEEP (June).
i) Lead data collection projects
j) Attend Writing Retreat
III. Level 3 Trainee
a) Attend weekly training meetings and research activities as described above.
b) Peer leader for level 2 and 3 trainees.
c) Apply for graduate school, working closely with a mentorship team.
d) Work on senior projects (papers and IRB).
