Mark H. Showalter is a Professor of Economics at Brigham Young University. His research focuses on topics in health economics and the economics of education. He served as Senior Economist for Health, Education, Labor, and Welfare on the President’s Council of Economic Advisers in 2003-2004 and on the Health Insurance Simulation Model Technical Review Panel for the Congressional Budget Office (2017-2019). He is on the editorial board for the Economics of Education Review. Professor Showalter received his BA from Brigham Young University and his Ph.D. from the Sloan School of Management at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology
